KOMASHI — COOKIE NOTICE
Published at: https://komashi.com/legal/cookies Version: v1.0 · Effective date: 2026-08-31
This Notice explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the Komashi Platform, what each is for, and how long it lasts. It supplements Section 8 of the Privacy Policy, which governs; where the two differ, the Privacy Policy prevails.

1. What this covers
"Cookies" here means cookies and equivalent technologies — local storage, session storage, pixels, and SDK identifiers. The legal test is the same for all of them: storing or reading anything on your device needs your consent unless it is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for.
2. Two categories, and only two
Komashi sets no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies. There is no ad network, no retargeting pixel, and no data broker in the Platform. That is a commitment in Privacy Policy Section 8.2, not a description of current practice, and it will not change without notice under Module 0 Section 4.
| Consent needed? | What it does | |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | No | Signing you in, keeping your session, security and anti-fraud, load balancing, and remembering your cookie choice itself. Without these the Platform cannot work |
| Analytics | Yes | Helps us understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it. Nothing here is needed to run the Platform, and refusing costs you no functionality |
No means no. If you refuse analytics, none is set. Refusing is as easy as accepting, your choice is remembered, and you can change it later at the address above.
3. Cookies set by Komashi
| What it does | Category | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Keeps you signed in. Holds your session after you sign in with a login link or code, so you do not have to re-authenticate on every page | Strictly necessary | Session — it expires when you sign out or close the browser |
| Remembers your display preferences. Your interface language and your time zone, so the Platform shows dates, times and text the way you set them. Your time zone also determines time-based calculations under the Terms (Module 0 §2.4a) | Strictly necessary | Up to 12 months |
| Remembers your cookie choice. Records whether you accepted or refused analytics, when, and against which version of this Notice, so that we do not ask again and can show that your choice was respected | Strictly necessary — the record of a refusal is itself necessary | Up to 12 months |
All three are first-party: they are set by Komashi on the Komashi domain, and no one else reads them.
Exact names and durations. The live, per-cookie detail — the exact name of each cookie as it is set on your device, and its exact expiry — is shown in the cookie settings panel at https://komashi.com/legal/cookie-settings, which reflects what is actually running rather than what was true when this Notice was last edited. The categories and the durations stated above are commitments and do not change without notice under Module 0 Section 4.
4. Cookies set by others
4.1 On the Komashi Platform
Where you consent to analytics, Google may set cookies on Komashi's own account. Google is Komashi's sub-processor for this, is established in the United States, and the transfer is made under the Standard Contractual Clauses — see Privacy Policy Section 6.2(c) and the sub-processor list at https://komashi.com/legal/subprocessors.
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google receives the sign-in request and returns your name, email address and account identifier. This happens because you chose that sign-in method; using an email address and password instead avoids it entirely.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | Category | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes one visitor from another so that visits can be counted without identifying you by name | Analytics — consent required | Up to 2 years | |
_ga_<container-id> | Keeps the state of a single analytics session for the specific Komashi property | Analytics — consent required | Up to 2 years |
Both are third-party cookies set on Komashi's own Google Analytics account. Neither is set unless you accept analytics, and refusing costs you no functionality. The durations shown are Google's defaults for these cookies; the value in force is shown in the cookie settings panel.
4.2 On a Provider's own presence
A Provider may switch on its own analytics — Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity — for its own pages, on the Provider's own account and under the Provider's own legal basis (Provider Terms Section 6.7). Those are not Komashi's cookies: Komashi does not choose them, does not receive the data, and cannot answer for them.
Ask that Provider, not us. Its identity and contact details are on its page and on your order confirmation. This Notice covers only what Komashi sets.
5. Managing cookies
- The Platform: https://komashi.com/legal/cookie-settings — change or withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal takes effect immediately and does not affect the lawfulness of what was collected beforehand.
- Your browser: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop the Platform working.
6. Your rights, and who to ask
Where analytics cookies process personal data, Privacy Policy Sections 7 and 11 apply — access, erasure, objection, and complaint to a supervisory authority. Questions about this Notice: info@komashi.com.
This Notice is updated whenever the cookies change. Material changes are notified under Module 0 Section 4.
