Formulas and assumptions
Assumptions
- Every customer pays the same package price.
- MRR counts one month of value: a daily price is multiplied by 365 ÷ 12 (about 30.42), a weekly price by 52 ÷ 12 (about 4.33), and a yearly price is divided by 12.
- Churn applies to the customers you have at the start of each month. New customers are added after it.
- Setup fees are paid once per new customer and are not part of MRR.
- Taxes, discounts, failed payments, upgrades and price changes are not modelled.
Formulas
- MRR = customers × (package price ÷ months in the billing period)
- ARR = MRR × 12
- Customers (month m) = Customers (month m − 1) × (1 − churn) + new customers
- MRR (month m) = Customers (month m) × price per month
- Setup revenue = new customers per month × 12 × setup fee
