Use PayPal with Komashi checkout.

Bring PayPal into your supported payment workflow, including recurring renewals, and keep each customer purchase connected to the service and subscription.

A connected customer journey.

Customers choose an offer in Komashi, approve the payment on PayPal and return to Komashi to finish.

What happens in an order

The payment status stays attached to the related order.

What to expect

  • Customers approve the payment on PayPal, then return to Komashi.
  • You connect your PayPal app with its Client ID and Client Secret. Komashi works out whether they belong to the sandbox or live environment.
  • Komashi registers the PayPal webhook for you when the connection is set up.
  • Recurring renewals use PayPal Vault, which your PayPal app must be allowed to use.

Payment information where it belongs.

PayPal reports the payment status back, and it stays attached to the corresponding order.

Renewals without new payment details.

For subscriptions, renewals are charged through PayPal Vault once the buyer has approved saving their PayPal wallet.

Countries
Your PayPal business account must be in a country PayPal supports for merchant payments. Check PayPal's current country list before you apply.
Currencies
Komashi sends PayPal payments in 24 currencies, including HUF, EUR, USD and GBP. Other currencies are not offered through PayPal.
Payment methods
The options the buyer sees on PayPal depend on your PayPal account and on where the buyer is.

What Komashi uses

Komashi creates the PayPal order through the PayPal REST API with your app credentials, and reads the result from PayPal webhooks and from the customer returning to Komashi.

Why choose PayPal

Choose PayPal when your customers already pay with it or want to use their PayPal wallet, and you sell in one of the supported currencies.

Connect your PayPal app

  1. 1 In the PayPal Developer Dashboard, open your app and copy its Client ID and Client Secret.
  2. 2 On the same app, enable "Save payment methods". Automatic renewals need it.
  3. 3 In Komashi's payment provider settings, choose PayPal and paste the Client ID and Client Secret.
  4. 4 Run the connection test. It checks the credentials, the Vault permission and the webhook. Then enable PayPal for your space.

Limits to know

  • Komashi sends PayPal payments in 24 currencies. TWD amounts must be whole numbers.
  • If PayPal has not approved Vault for your app, it refuses to save payment methods, so automatic renewals cannot run.
  • For a subscription to renew automatically, the buyer must approve saving their PayPal wallet during checkout.

Your PayPal account

You own the PayPal account, its credentials and its terms. PayPal decides eligibility, fees and which features are available to you.

What Komashi does

Komashi coordinates the offer, order and subscription workflow. Customer payments go through your connected provider; Komashi does not process payments or hold customer funds.
