What is subscription checkout?
The step where a recurring offer becomes an agreement, so every amount that repeats has to be visible before the customer pays.
Short answer
Subscription checkout is the purchase step for an offer that repeats. It shows the customer the recurring amount, the billing period, any one-time charges and the tax. It then takes the first payment and sets up the repeat charges.
How it works
The customer picks a package and billing period, enters billing details and confirms. The total separates the recurring amount from one-time items, so the customer can see which amounts will come back.
Illustrative example
Hypothetical values: a $190 monthly package with a $75 one-time onboarding fee. The first payment is $265 before tax. Each later period is $190 before tax. Both amounts are shown before the customer pays.
Common confusion
A one-off payment page only collects one payment. A subscription checkout also starts the repeating schedule and the agreement that the schedule belongs to.
How Komashi handles it
The Komashi checkout summary lists the recurring total, any one-time services and the total cost, with VAT for the billing country, before the customer pays. Payments are collected through the payment provider you connect.
Common questions
Does checkout show the recurring amount separately?
Yes. The summary lists the recurring total apart from one-time services, and shows the total cost for the first payment.
Can a customer see the VAT before paying?
Yes. The VAT for the billing country is shown in the checkout summary before the customer pays.
